Performance Classes

The focus is on a piano performance; students perform a solo or an ensemble piece, receive teacher’s instructions and the feedback from other students. This builds good listening skills and helps each student learn what to listen for and work on in their own playing, especially when preparing for the adjudicated events.

Playing piano can get lonely, and once given an opportunity to be a part of a duet or trio, which is fun, students actually want to practice and perform! The element of positive peer pressure is a very good thing in piano lessons! Getting together with other students is exciting and is fun, which cannot be discounted! After all, we all love to do things together!

Playing becomes really fun! Once students realize they can play well, they gain more confidence and are more eager than ever to tackle solos that once would have overwhelmed them. Plus, music making with someone helps promote friendships that can be for life.

We also discuss performance anxiety, preparations for the upcoming Recitals and the Festivals, learn about composers, listen to their music, and reinforce theory concepts through game play, ear and rhythm training activities.

There is a lot of educational value in group classes and regardless of age or ability level, a student’s musical growth can benefit from a group oriented learning environment.

There are four performance classes built into the school year.
